Todorov's theory!
Tzveran TodorovTsveran todorov is a bulgarian philosopher he is 72 years old he came up with a theory which has a different view on the aspect of media i looked at this theory to see whether i can incorporate his ideas into my overall project.
The main idea of what Todorov narrative theory is, is the way that stories and characters are seen in media texts.
His 5 key Ideas to his theory were......
- Equilibrium - Normal life/balance
- Disruption - Normal life id disrupted
- Realisation - characters accept the disruption
- Reparation - Fixing the disruption
- New Equilibrium - Balance is met/But is different
Example of a film which follows his theory! The Hobbit!
Equilibrium - Dwarfs are living in peaceand harmony in the lonely mountain kingdom
Disruption - smaug the fire breathing dragon comes and destroys the dwarfs kingdom and city
Realisation - The dwarfs realise the destruction
Reparation - The dwarfs try to get help from the elves and other people to help fight the dragon and reclaim there homeland
New equilibruim - dragon gets killed the dwarfs reclaim there home.

How Todorov's theory has helped me with my ideas for my music video project?
I think that Todorovs theory has helped me alot into understanding the idea behind different film media. It has helped me to understand that the majority of films or any filming has these stages throughout the story/film. I think that this will give me a better idea as to what my music video stroy should be and how each stage of the plot should go. However overall i dont think i will use his whole theory as my music video isnt long enough for there to be every aspect of theory in it, but i will use different parts of it throughout my music video. I feel that todorovs theory is more related to films rather than music video because films can include all aspects of his theory because they have enough time to include them but music videos can onl have small parts of it.
